Crystal Methyd is the stage name of Cody Harness, an American drag performer who competed on RuPaul's Drag Race. Currently a resident of Los Angeles, Crystal was born in San Jose, CA, to a Mexican mother and American father. She lived most of her life in Springfield, MO and went to Missouri State University. In 2017, Crystal launched the monthly drag show "Get Dusted" at Springfield’s Outland Ballroom.
Crystal went on to star in the 12th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race which aired on VH1 in 2020 during the COVID-19 crisis. The pandemic forced the season’s final episode to be filmed at home in her living room. The new format allowed Crystal to flip the traditional live performance element on its head delivering a pre-taped performance of Nelly Furtado’s “I’m Like a Bird” dressed the eponymous Momma bird and vomiting into the mouth of her baby bird (also played by Crystal!) She snatched runner-up honors!
Since then, Crystal has toured US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, the UK, Ireland and Europe. Catch her when she’s in a city near you in this Winter 2023’s “A Drag Queen Christmas.”
